Vaya Films is a Colombian production company that has built a solid path within the national film industry, with a strong international projection by providing production services in Colombia for major productions from countries such as the United States, Spain, Mexico, and India. The company stands out for its ability to articulate artistic vision with rigorous and sensitive production. Our work goes beyond logistics and operations. We seek to strengthen the creative force of each project and build bridges between territories, stories, and authors who are shaping new paths in Latin American cinema.
ÁLVARO VÁSQUEZ
CO-FOUNDER - DIRECTOR
Director, screenwriter and producer, founder of Vaya Films, focused on auteur cinema linked to memory and identity. His short films Jamás and Leve have been selected in festivals such as Havana, Toulouse and Bogoshorts. He was co-producer and production manager of El otro hijo by Juan Sebastián Quebrada, production manager of Pájaros de verano by Ciro Guerra and Cristina Gallego, and has participated in productions such as Anna by Jacques Toulemonde, Tierra en la lengua by Rubén Mendoza and Litigante by Franco Lolli, films screened at festivals such as Cannes, San Sebastián, Berlin and Sundance. He is currently developing his debut feature Un coyote al final del camino, selected in development spaces such as FICCI and Cine Qua Non Lab 2024, and is promoting the documentary “La colonia”, presented in Pitch The Whickers at Conecta Chile 2024.
CESAR RODRIGUEZ
CO-FOUNDER - PRODUCER
Producer and founder of Vaya Films, he has built a solid career within Colombian cinema. He has served as co-producer of El Profesor, a Spain-Colombia co-production, Cólera Morbo, and the documentary Orquídea, and as line producer on internationally acclaimed films such as Embrace of the Serpent (Academy Award nominee), Un Varón (Directors’ Fortnight at Cannes), and Gente de Bien (Critics’ Week at Cannes). His experience has allowed him to work across diverse regions of Colombia, contributing to narratives that combine artistic rigor with social relevance. He is currently developing two projects that mark a new stage in his career: the documentary La Colonia, an in-depth investigation into the Villarrica War and the memory of La Violencia, and the fiction feature film Un Coyote al Final del Camino, his debut feature, which participated in major development platforms such as Rotterdam Lab, confirming his commitment to humanistic, socially engaged cinema with international projection.
